Sinestro!

One quick announcement before we go to the artwork. Today Deena and I celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary. In so many ways it doesn't seem like it could be that many years but in other ways it just seems like it's always been "us". And that's just the way we like it. :)
Okay, enough of that silly stuff. This is the second of two commissions for Bill: That renegade Green Lantern, Sinestro! I have never drawn this character but I really like the redesign for him. Sinestro always seemed a bit goofy for someone who was once the top Green Lantern. A little over the top. But now he seems pretty darn scary. It's probably the mustache. :)

This was done in ink on 11" x 17" Strathmore Bristol Board. Thanks again to Bill for the commissions!

Congratulations on the anniversary! Start thinking of a big thing to do together for the 20th, it will be here before you know it, trust me (I've been married 22 years).

Great job making Sinestro look more evil. Think the Rollie Fingers handle bar mustache has always made him somewhat goofy (along with the name), but the overall visual representation makes him threatening!

Gene- Today is also the 40th anniversary of the day the famous Abbey Road album cover picture was shot in London outside the studios. Not sure if you are a Beatles fan, but if you and Deena find your way to London, you may want to check it out. Maybe a 20th anniversary trip :-).

Thanks LUD!

Thanks Gary, we will! Didn't know about the Beatles Abby Road anniversary. Yup, Beatles fans. Hmmm, a reason to go to London in 2012. Uh-oh, 20 anniversary coincides with end of Mayan calendar. :O

Thanks Lan.

Thanks Brian!

Sorry I'm late to the party on this one, Gene, but I hope that you and Deena had a fantastic anniversary! (KJ and I will hit the quarter-century mark in January, God willing.)

Thank you Michael! We did in fact have a nice day. And wow, 25 years for you and KJ. That's great! It seemed for a long time most of the people I knew were married a short time and then divorced. Now it seems like most of the people I meet have been married at least as long as me and Deena. Maybe it's age?
