Legion of Super-Heroes

This was just done for fun. I had an hour and a half to kill and came up with this, the founding members of the Legion of Super-Heroes. For those who do not know, the Legion was my favorite characters. Toss in the original Superboy, and it just gets better. The characters here are (from the top) Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy, and Lightening Lad.

This is done in ink on 11" x 17" Strathmore Bristol Board.

Gene, do you remember an old Silver-age story which starts with statues of the three, with each statue representing their powers with batteries and magnets, and Saturn Girl's statue generating a telepathic message to all telling them the Legion's origin. It was probably done for the old Secret Origins comic in the seventies.

Long story short, this piece kinda reminds me of that story. Thanks!

LUD- I forgot all about that story. It was done in Superboy 147. It was a new story in the middle of this 80 Page Giant. There had never been a Legion origin story untill that issue in 1968. E. Nelson Bridwell wrote it. Very good call. I can see the similarities.

And I call myself a Legion fan. ;)

Oh the perils of growing up in a society that allows viral marketing.

Nice pic Gene. Love the Legion! The original Superboy/Adventure Comics Runs were the best!!!

Thanks Royce! Though I am worried how marketing is soaking into your brain. :)

I still think that DC should give you the ball and have you run a few covers of this iconic title!

That Legion Commission is outstanding - nothing like the big 3 in old-time costumes!!

TDM797-Thanks. Not a commission though, I just did it for fun. Though I will put it up for sale.

Brian- I saw that shirt. At first it looked like a Subway Sandwich shirt. It was well done. :)
