ShadowKnight - Commission

Happy Friday everyone!

Jonathan commissioned a sketch of his own character ShadowKnight. He wanted it in the same style I did for the Speedy commission posted here a while back. Thanks again for the commission Jonathan! This was done in ink, and graphite on 11" x 17" Cason Bristol Board.

Have a good weekend!

Gene,

Nice job with the use of the Graphite to give the dark/shadow appearance consistent with the character name (Shadowknight). Obviously, if he was the SunshineKnight, Graphite approach may have been a mismatch.

Again, shows that you think these things through before putting graphite to paper!

Have a good weekend!

Hey Gene,

Just wanted to thank you publicly for another fantastic commission!

Gary, that was actually one of the reasons I asked Gene to do this piece in a manner similar to the the Speedy commission. I really liked his use of grays there and thought that approach would be a good fit for this character.

Looks like I was right!

Nice call Jonathan. You will have to give us some back story on the character! He has a cool look to him and Gene did a great job!!

Hey Royce,

Thanks for the compliments on Shadowknight. He's a secret agent with kung-fu powers, think Iron Fist meets Jason Bourne -- he's another character I plan to tell stories with in the future.

To that end, I just started a class at UCLA (online) on how to write for the comics medium. It's a little harder than I expected, but I'm having fun and learning quite a bit!

Glad you like it Jonathan. :)

Thanks Royce!
