Whiteboard art

I haven't shared any art from the Labs in a while so here ya go. This was done Thursday for the Science Center of Pinellas County and SPC Leadership. Looking for ways for their partnership to grow and be a benefit to both groups. Both teams are incredible. I have to listen to everything during the course of the event and I was impressed with what they both do. Getting kids to learn that math and science is fun and a benefit for them in life as they grow up is a good cause. This group worked really hard and were very passionate about what they do. Nice to see that sort of conviction. I created a lot more than what is seen on these two boards but I try not to overwhelm the casual observer. Click on the art and see all the details.

Gene,

So, these illustrations are used to capture the concepts/vision for achieving the goals? We have a similiar process where I work. A specialized group comes in to help a second group solve a problem or map out a long term plan. Visually capturing the ideas while they are being discussed is a great way to make sure everyone is on the same page!

Thanks for sharing!

Gary - You got it. The events at the Labs can have as few as 10 people or as many as 300. They took me to Wash. DC to do an event for the US Dept of Labor/Job Corps. and there were over 800 people for the three day event. The main job for me and the other facilitators of the Labs is to keep the stakeholders focused on the goal. Not tell them what to do, but not let them deviate to far from the goal. Still it is very flexible and can change direction. The clients are the boss in these events. :) I would be interested in hearing what your company does, either at a show or in an email. Thanks!

I like the idea of having an artist on tap to keep things summarized and focused. With the multitude of workshops I have attended over the years, you would think that this process could have been used at least ONCE! LOL

Royce - I bet you had to sit through many of those workshops featuring a PowerPointless presentation. :) It is an interesting process that we use. One person on a laptop typing everything said AND capturing what is written on a whiteboard and turning that info into charts and graphs. Another person running the voting technology, takes pictures of the boards and participants and sets up all the PC tablets. A facilitator who works on the game plan with the client before the actual meeting and keeps the meeting itself focused. And me. I'm just the Solid Gold Dancer of the team. I'm there to dazzle them with art or if that doesn't work, I do a little interpretive dance. :)

Gene,

To answer your question, I work for the Procter & Gamble Company, marketer of a lot of different consumer products (Pampers, Tide, Pantene, Head and Shoulder shampoos, Cover Girl Make Up, Hugo Boss fragrance, Fabreze...you get the picture). The technique you use is very helpful in establishing long term visions or solutions to complex problems. Yeah, we have lots of Power Point presentations, but the illustration technique is much more fun!
