Happy Friday, everyone!
Just a quickie for this morning's warm up. This took about 30 minutes. I added a scan of my watercolor paper to the image for a bit of texture. If you have my latest sketchbook, you have seen me do this effect before.
Just a little 20 minute sketch today. No color this time, it is too complex to do quickly. Plus I like the energy in the lines and didn't want to obscure them.
Yikes! We haven't had a pin-up since Wednesday! What's up with that? This is watercolor on 10" x 15" 140# Canson Watercolor paper. I hope everyone had a good weekend!
The last of the Valentine Vixens. Whew! Now I just have to send them to CILM and they should be available sometime around January 8th, 2009. I think I am going to go collapse now. :)
For those that are counting, one more to go. :) I think I am filling my quota for posts for the rest of the week during the last two days.
I worked out of order with this series but finally here is the digital inks for Vixen #1. I have to color three of them today. Back to work.
Cupid has given up the arrows and is now using a whip. :)
What a busy day! I did finish up what I believe will be the last revisions to a 5' x 3' piece of art I have been working on. Plus misc. graphic elements I designed and produced. AND I finished adding color to Brian's Batgirl. (Scanning it tomorrow). AND I did a couple of pieces of art for another job. AND I did the Valentine Vixen above. I penciled her with a red Col-Erase pencil on 11" x 14" Bristol Board. This one and the others I have produced are just the prelims for the final art I submit to CILM. I do need to do three more and then dive in to finishes. The final pieces will probably be simpler in style as I work on them. I find it's easier to put more down and subtract as I work towards the finish. Time to get some rest!
Here is the second Vixen for my Valentines Day package from CILM. She is still in the early stages but you get the idea. She was done with red Col-Erase pencil on 11" x 17" copy paper. (A little digital touches too) I really shouldn't have been doing this piece right now because I have got a big deadline that is fast approaching. As in, it has to be to the printer on Thursday! And since the part I am doing is needed by others in order to do their parts...I need to get back to work. Sigh.
Here is the last of the Christmas Cuties. All six have been sent to CILM. With any luck maybe I can get a front page push on their site. I will be pimping the new images on the CILM Forum. My next batch will be for February. I will probably throw a couple of Valentine Vixens in that batch, but it won't be all Valentine images. This piece was colored in Photoshop CS3. Today was a good day. Finished up the illustration work for the Annual Report I was working on. And I worked the White Board Jungle of the Labs too. It was nice to get a project out the door and always nice to invoice. My workload is still pretty heavy though. Not a complaint, believe me. I know how fortunate I am to be doing what I love and being able to make a living at it.
I posted the North Pole Dancer as a sketch. Here is the final inked version. I will color her and a background digitally. She is the fifth of six I need done by next week. Whew.

Royce asked for something along the lines of a Gil Elvgren pin-up. Well, Elvgren is a master and me...well...I just slap ink on paper. But being big fan of Elvgren's work I wanted to try my hand at one of those peek-a-boo type pin-ups. A windy day and a lost running wild umbrella makes for a slightly embarrassing moment for our girl here. Thanks again Royce! This is ink on 11" x 17" Canson Bristol Board.

This little surfer girl was requested by Royce and I was more than happy to do it. I love doing beach/tropical subjects and this fits the bill. Thanks Royce!
Today we have my entry into Michael's "Common Elements" theme. He has a really cool collection of artwork that features characters that some type of commonality. He asked me for X-Man Kitty (Shadowcat) Pryde and Legionnaire Tinya (Phantom Girl) Wazzo. Pretty scary I knew Phantom Girls name without looking it up. Both characters possess the ability to become intangible and pass through solid objects. Fun stuff! Thanks again Michael! This piece is ink on 11" x 17" Canson Bristol Board.
Here is the last of the Halloween images I am doing for CILM. Time to start on Christmas images. :) Didn't get done with the "two" sketch pieces I was planning to finish, but I did get them penciled so that will be inked tomorrow. It's a combined image of two characters so it took a bit longer to work out the composition. No worries though, we are still on track with all the sketches.
