Zatanna - Canson Cutie

Double post today folks. First up, that Mistress of Magic, ZATANNA. She was done in mixed media on 11" x 17" Canson Mi-Teintes paper. Working on dark colored paper presents some interesting challenges. In this case I cannot use my light box for transferring the sketch to the Canson paper because it is so dark. When I project it, I have to use a light colored pencil to draw with because I cannot see the graphite. Building up light colors like her skin is a different approach too. But I still enjoy the challenge and will continue to work with the paper. She will be up on eBay tonight!
I just ordered a big selection of colored Canson Mi-Teintes paper today. As well as paints, ink, and various other things for upcoming conventions. I think I will try my hand at painting at HeroesCon. The only time I have painted at a show is for the art auction at HeroesCon, but I've never painted commissions at a show so this could be messy. :)

And the reason for the double post is below. I got my banner today. This thing is great. It has the retractable base so the banner pulls out and up like a projection screen, the support rod in the back is three pieces connected together by a bungie type cord. The kind tent supports have. A carrying case too. I can put it together in less than 3 minutes.
I went into a local Fast Signs and got a quote of over 300.00 for this exact sign and base. They actually had a few in the store that I looked at. Another locally owned shop had it for over 250.00. I got mine on eBay from a seller in L.A. He had a 100% positive rating and I figured I would give him a shot. Great service. I had it in week. Good communication and great price: $100.00 (includes shipping FedEx Ground). I am a very happy customer!

Gene,

I typically gush over your latest artwork, however, I found it too easy to skim by Zatanna and check out the banner in the Tiki Room. Wow, this is eye catching and going to look great at the conventions! I am glad that you were able to get an "ebay discount" on the purchase of the stand. Great to have both your name and the Island girl on the same banner.

Have a great weekend!

Gary

Thanks Gary. The banner is actually set up in our living room. :) Glad you like it. But poor Zatanna is missing the love. :)

Thanks Craig!

Hey, I will give some EVOL to Ms. Zatanna if she gets to feeling "too" left out! Great pick for the pic to put on the banner Gene! If THAT doesn't get you noticed at conventions and keep your sketchlist full, I don't know what will!!
Can't wait to see this set up at Heroes!! Bring lots of the Canson Mi-Teintes paper to Charlotte, you will need it!!

Something tells me "Z" is never too lonley for long...another beauty!
The stand is very cool and with your Tiki & Island girl art Royce is right, attendees better get on the list quick! The art banner it displays, I take it you had that printed separate from the cannister and can replace it with others or did they print the image and load it for you? I like it, a great way to display your banner.

Oh and you did say the Canson paper comes in gray right....

Thanks Royce. Zatanna appreciates it. :)

In a couple of weeks I am going to set up an advance sketch list for the show. Probably around June 1. It will only be for those that are attending HeroesCon. I will continue to do this for each show I am attending. More details later!

Thanks Brian! They printed and loaded it but from what I understand, you can take it apart and put a new one in, but it is not really built for that. Of course that's what they said at Fast (320.00) Sign and they recommended just getting a new set up or have them change it out for a price. At 100.00 each, I will just have a new one made when I am ready. Then I will have two!!! And Canson does indeed come in gray. :)

If I had the money, I'd scoop this one up too, but my other one is just going to have to do now. I'm sure you noticed on my facebook page, my Magic Wall. I hope she goes to a great home, Gene.

Thanks Lan! I did see your Magic Wall, great stuff there! I'm glad that Zatanna found a good home with you! Have a good weekend!

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

You know I'm a sucker for that drawing, but that's a great setup. Could I get the seller's info from you? At that price, I wouldn't mind getting a BaliHa'i sign made up!

I think the color on your banner is great. It's going to be wonderful advertising for you. I'll need to get on your advanced list because your going to be so busy at Heroes!!
