Today's offering is The Snow Queen from DC Comics title
Fables. I have been wanting to read Fables for quite some time but just haven't gotten to it. I hear a lot of good things about it. The James Jean covers alone are worth the price of admission. Thanks to Ben for the commission! This is ink (and brush) on 11" x 17" Canson Bristol Board.

I could use hundreds of words to say how I feel about this piece. But you know what? The only word that comes to mind is "pretty."
Very pretty.
…makes me sound like a four-year old. :-p
(Great work, Gene!)
Gene,
Yeah, you have to make the time to check out Fables. I find it reads better in trade paper back form, but still get the title monthly because it is just that good.
James Jean is no longer the cover artist (latest issue was the last cover). I think DC/Vertigo would consider you as cover artist if they saw this!
Gary
Fables is my favourite comic, and has been since it started coming out. Its just amazing. I do agree with Gary, it reads better as TPBs, but I also get it monthly, because I just can't wait 6 months at a time to read the stories (sometimes longer, when there is a lengthy storyline).
I do know that they have already signed on a new cover artist. I can't remember his name right now, but I've seen the first couple of covers and they are really nice.
And finally, GREAT depiction of Lumi, the Snow Queen, Gene! Have you done any other pieces featuring Fables characters?
Erik
Know nothing of the Fables book other thatn the James JEan covers as you already mentioned. Maybe a trip to my local library is in order for a TPB or two! Beautiful sketch though!
Thanks LUD!
Thanks Gary! We gotta get you a job at DC! Then I will have an "in"!
Thanks Erik. This is the first time I have drawn any of the characters from Fables. So that made it interesting and fun.
Thanks Royce. (Strange, I miss your pun of the day) :)
