Lady Blackhawk!

I believe this my first attempt at Lady Blackhawk. I can't recall being asked to draw her before. Don't know why, this is a fun character to draw. Thanks to Royce for this request. This is ink on 11" x 17" Canson bristol board. Keep 'em flying, boys!

Tomorrow: Cave Woman!

Another sweet one. It is hard to believe you haven't been asked to draw her before.

This one would make another great cover, DC Management, where are you?

Kudos to Royce for thinking up a character that Gene did not draw before. Can you think of anymore?

As the anal retentive signature block guy, I would have thought that Gene would slip his signature inside of an airplane, but this may not have been the right piece to do something like that. It is too perfect as is!

Thanks for taking the time to post your work day in and day out Gene!

It was really hard not to ask for a Supergirl this time, but I am SOOOOOOoooo glad I went with this blonde instead this time!

Nice work Gene, love the pose.
Consider the salute returned!!

Thanks Craig. I think if she wore fishnet, I would get more requests for her. :)

Thanks Gary! I did try to work in a special block for the signature, but it was either distracting or it looked like her kill score was one Gene Gonzales 2009 :) Glad you enjoy the posts, thanks for coming back again and again.

Thanks Royce! It was a pleasure to do this. But we can't leave the Girl of Steel out in the cold for too long. ;)

Flying high again! I'm with Gary, Cover worthy! Not that familiar with her but may need to pick up some BOP issues. Sexy as hell!

A fun take on a fun character -- great stuff as usual, Gene!

And definitely a excellent choice, Royce! I've always liked the retro coolness of Lady Blackhawk's look.

And for those unfamiliar with Lady B (aka Zinda Blake, IIRC), Gail Simone did some neat stuff with her during her stint on DC's Birds of Prey.

Hey, it's all about the hat!! Reminds me a bit of a chauffer's outfit. "Baby, you can drive my car!" Maybe Transporter 6 can feature her as a competing driver!!
Look out Jason Statham!! Here comes Lady B!!

Lady Blackhawk is one of the most interesting DC characters-- and Mr. Faraci is correct, Gail really had a way with the lady.

Zinda Blake became an honorary member of the team, only to be plucked out of the 1940's thanks to a mysterious time hiccup, and end up in current times. With the death of Chop Chop, she's the last surviving member of the team, even though she's physically in her late twenties/early thirties.

Guys, if you're lucky, track down some of Dick Dillin's run (early 1960's) on Blackhawk, and see Lady B done right! Mr. Dillin had a way with the ladies! ;-)

Lady Blackhawk is a fave of mine as well, so I was delighted to see your rendition of her. Nice job, Gene!

Hey, Gene --

Did you see the Bombshell! version of Zinda that Greg LaRocque did?

I love your take on her too!

Thanks Patman!

Hey Michael, I did see Greg's Lady Blackhawk Bombshell, great stuff!!! It seemed like we were both working on pin-ups of her at the same time. :)
