New Sketchbook!

I like a new sketchbook. And since I started this blog I have been going through pages rather quickly in my old sketchbook. So today starts a new book and this is the first page. Not working backwards in this one so far. :) With all that said, I also hate a new sketchbook. Not mine. Others. For example, when someone comes to me at a convention and has a book. And. It's. Brand. New. So the sketch I do will be the first one everyone sees when they open the book for a long time. Unless I screw up and they tear it out. :)  The only worse situation is when they have an Adam Hughes or a Mark Schultz sketch that I am to follow. sigh. I like MY new sketchbook. :)

You can christen my sketchbook anytime Gene. Of course, you can always just start on one of the middle pages. :)

I think the real pressure is drawing on the inside front and inside back covers.

Like the "refreshing" sketch.

Thanks Royce! I agree that the inside front or inside back covers are the tough ones. I did a very nice detailed piece with all the Endless characters to start off my wifes book. After about a dozens sketches by other artists, Adam takes the inside front cover spread and out does us all. My wife loved it. :)

Hey Craig, I'm one of those that like to work on loose boards. I always bring paper with me. It's nice when someone brings their own as well. Generally I can work bigger and not worry about screwing up someones book. Thanks!

Gene,

Hey, I am back after a business trip to Chicago, and no internet access :-(.

Concerning the sketchbook dilemma, you are right, other artists tend to look through sketchbooks and "take measure". Funny thing is that when they see your work, they typically stop and say "wow, this is cool". Those are the comments that you would never hear, but say volumes about your work!

BTW, great sketch to start out the sketch book! I will drink to that!
