Sketchbook Monday - Mermaids on the brain

Artwork © 2011 Gene Gonzales

Lori Lemaris, the mermaid who once stole Superman's heart, was on my mind this morning while I was getting ready to hit the friendly skies. The reason she was on my mind is because I have a nice splash page from a Lori Lemaris solo story on my wall drawn by Win Mortimer. For some reason I was just looking at it so while I sat here waiting for files to be converted and saved, I started sketching a bit. I need to do a definitive piece featuring Lori. Maybe a painting on a Canson board like the Shrinking Violet I did a while back. Hmmmmm.

This is Post #1199

Hmmm is right Gene, you need to get that definitive piece out of your brain!

Good luck on the air travel! I am headed out on the friendly skies tomorrow. Was working on the Tiki today!

Love the Lori you did for me a year and a half ago Gene. I think that if that one was any indication at all of what we could expect, you should go all out for a Canson version! An even larger "scale" version sure would be "fin" with me!! I can only "fathom" how breathtaking a painted version would look! What a "catch" it would be if I could "land" another Lori, so don't "sail" it before we talk. I can definitely "sea" a new Lori in my future at some point from you anyway. Using "bait" like that, "waves" of compliments would surely "flood" this blog and you could possibly "net" a few more daily followers who would swallow your posts "hook, line, and sinker." I know you don't usually "fish" for such encouraging comments, preferring to "cast" them aside, but let me "tail" you something...you deserve them! "Oh, shun" my "gushing" if you must, but an old "school" or even a "current" version of her would really "float my boat!" In fact, it would be downright "swell!" That would probably "tide" me over until the next commission at any rate. You of course know about the "depths" of my love and devotion to all things Superman, so feel free to "dive" into this idea soon. I like the way you have gotten your "feet wet" with these sketches by the way! Okay, I better stop before I make a few "anemones."
