Dune Baby

Can't seem to get the beach girls off the brain. I love living here, that's all I have to say about that! This sun worshipping beauty is making sure she doesn't get tan lines on her back. This little sketch was done with color pencils in my sketchbook. A little warm up piece this morning. I think I might start painting these using traditional methods like watercolor or acrylic. I haven't done much of it lately and this could be a lot of fun.

Gene,

I love where your brain is at! Keep going, these beach themed sketches are just great!

Would also like to see your experimental painting with the same theme.

By the way, I notice that you sometimes use different colors when you do your color pencil sketches. Any rhyme or reason to the color your select? Also, what type of color pencils do you use--I suppose it is not Crayola?

Thanks again for sharing!

Gary - Thanks, the beach/island girl theme has been fun. Since I have a package done for CILM I have time to play with the next batch so I just might take some chances with my paintings. The pencil I use just happens to be the color that catches my eye when I reach for the cup of pencils. You know "Ooo pretty" and I reach for it. I tend to use Colorase or Prismacolor Verithin pencils. Thanks for asking!

In NC, Spring still moves over for a little bit of winter every week or so it seems, so having Beach pics to look at really helps a lot! I like the colored pencil pieces as well Gene. Even though it is monochromatic, it still adds a depth to the piece that "gray" graphite doesn't capture. I like your photoshop colors, but look forward to the painting as well.
