Lt. Gay Ellis, Moonbase Commander (UFO) - Conventionless Convention Sketch

Lt. Gay Ellis was a character on the British tv series UFO. And apparently the favorite of young boys. If you haven't checked out the series you can find most if not all the episodes on YouTube. I didn't see the series until about 15 years ago. But I remember the back cover ads for it on comic books. Strangely enough I had a toy UFO Interceptor as a kid. I must have gotten it at Marv's Toy Store in Burbank back in the early 1970s. It was die cast and painted green. The thing was so big and heavy. And it had a giant spring loaded hard plastic missile on the front. Didn't remember that toy or where it was from until I saw the Interceptor on the series years later.

I think this could be the first time I have drawn a character from the Atlas/Seaboard comic group. I was a fan of several titles when they hit the newsstands back in the 70s. Two of my friends like different titles than me and we would share the books. None of us ever picked up the magazine with Devilina in it though. I never saw it. All I remember about her is the couple of house ads that featured her and the other characters. This was a lot of fun to revisit so don't be surprised if I draw some of the other characters from that short lived publisher.

Witch Woman from the Ghost Rider comics is our CCS today. I've always been more of a DC guy than a Marvel guy so I don't know the obscure Marvel characters like I know the obscure DC characters. Doesn't make them any less fun to draw though! :)

Kinetix is a Legionnaire I am not very familiar with. I left the Legion books with the reboot after Zero Hour and only have returned whenever I see the Legion I remember. The times I did see her she was wearing a green dress. I'm pretty sure I have done a CCS of her in that uniform. I seem to remember she has magic powers but apparently Kinetix has been revamped a couple of times. Still fun to draw!
