Do you believe in Magik? - Canson Cutie

I've always like the look of this character, especially the way Bill Sienkiewicz drew her. I just did a convention sketch of Magik at the FX International show and I thought I would revisit her again, this time in color. This was done in mixed media on 11" x 17" Canson Mi-Teintes Paper. I will be putting her on eBay tonight and will provide a link in an update.

I just got done with some yard work and I am heading for the pool! It's a bit warm here today. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

Me likes! Love the way you have her standing and the angle... and the colors... and...

Royce and Craig are correct, the perspective and angle really makes this piece pop. Yellow Canson color paper is perfect.

Did you add some color to the background? Part of the background yellow seems darker than other parts. Maybe a trick of the eye from the scan, or is there some Gene secret artist tricks going on here?

Very well done!

Gary - No color added to the background but there might be a variation between the top half and the bottom half. I have to scan the art in two pieces and stitch together in Photoshop. With big areas of color, sometimes there is a difference in the scanning. Could be the temperature of the bulb from each pass. It is more noticeable on some colors more than others. I will have to go back in and do a little more work on the file to get a better match. Thanks!

You absolutely captured the carachter! I will be keeping a close eye on this auction!

Gene,

Thanks for the explantation. Please don't expend additional effort trying to get the scans right. I was just curious about the background and whether you add color to it. Also, rather have you spend the time at the art table rather than scanner manipulation!

Thanks Shane, not only watch it allowed, bidding is actually encouraged. ;)

No worries Gary, I will be fixing it anyway for convention prints. :)

She looks great Gene! The yellow paper goes so well. I know she's going to go for a lot on eBay. I'm really liking the Canson stuff your doing. Maybe I'll get one at Heroes if your not too busy?

Thanks Karen! Me too busy for you??? Not likely! :)
