The Dynamite Duo - Conventionless Convention Sketch #4

Batgirl & Robin © DC Comics

Today I present Brian Batmite Jones'  Conventionless Convention Sketch. Brian opted to put two characters on one board. And so we have a chance meeting on a rooftop where Robin tries desperately to impress Batgirl with his acrobatic ability. Can you blame the boy? He is pulling out all the stops folks.

Thanks to Brian for this commission. This was a lot of fun.

(Anyone else remember this pair being tagged as the Dynamite Duo? Ah, the 70's)

Zatanna - Conventionless Convention Sketch #3

Here is the third and last of the CCSs for Lisa. I had fun with all three, thanks again Lisa!

I will be working on two more today. As you may have noticed I don't necessarily go in order of requests. I find it's better all around to go with inspiration. This way I am not sitting here trying to come up with something for one character when I have a great idea for another. :)

Deena's Ink Part 1

Artwork © 2011 Gene Gonzales

Just a quick break from Conventionless Convention Sketches tonight. I worked on two of them and managed to not finish either of them. But the pencils are finished so that's progress.

Above is another project I am working on. This is the first of a few designs I am doing for my lovely wife Deena. She has been wanting a new tattoo for some time and wants me to create the art. We worked out what she wants and here is a sketch of the first design. The tattoo will be on her lower back (yes, we all know what they call a tattoo on the lower back. :) ) and the center will be a lotus and fairy. More wispy elements will be added but the important part is the center image. Once that is nailed down the rest will follow pretty easily. She wanted to share and so here is design #1.

Back to the Conventionless Convention Sketches tomorrow.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Catwoman - Conventionless Convention Sketch #1

First up from the Conventionless Convention Sketch list is Catwoman for Lisa. It's always fun drawing Selina in any incarnation. Thanks Lisa!

Just an FYI, there are still 4 slots available if anyone is interested in getting a sketch.

This piece was done in ink on an 11" x 17" sheet of bristol board.

Conventionless Convention Sketches Are Back!

CONVENTIONLESS CONVENTION SKETCHES ARE BACK!

It's been seven months since I ran this deal so some of you might wonder what is a CONVENTIONLESS CONVENTION SKETCH (CCS)! It's just like a regular con sketch that I would do for you at a convention, except no crowds, no convention hall food, no hotel bill, and no travel. And the price is the same as a show sketch. You only have to pay extra for shipping. Still cheaper than going to a show.

CCS DEAL:

$50.00 for a single character, inked on 11" x 17" bristol board. Shipping is $12.00, up to three sketches. (Just an FYI, my normal studio price starts at $75.00 plus shipping!).

I am going to take a total of 12 commissions. Assuming I get 12 requests. Any background elements will be at my discretion. All will be done March 1, 2011. Payment is PayPal only. (No "e-checks, please) If you are interested, send me an email to gene_gonzales(at)mac(dot)com with Conventionless Convention Sketch in the subject line and let me know what you would like. That email is also my PayPal account, but check with me before sending money, please. I do reserve the right to turn down requests that I don't feel comfortable drawing. If you have any questions, please email me.

MEGACON ADVANCE LIST COMING SOON:

MegaCon is at the end of March. As soon as I am done with these 12 sketches, I will be opening the advance list for MegaCon in Orlando Florida. So if you are attending the show and want to be on that advance list, don't get on the Conventionless Convention Sketch list. I will be keeping these separate. When I open the MegaCon Advance Sketch List, it will include Canson Cutie art and painted art as well as inked pieces. And different details about payment. So hold on until March for the MegaCon list.

I hope that wasn't confusing. :)

Thanks!

And just so no one accuses me of not posting new artwork today, below is the beginning of a Spider-Man piece I started working on today. :)

Sketchbook Tuesday - Nuts & Bolts

Artwork © 2011 Gene Gonzales

I only had time to work on some bot designs today. I was working towards a specific function/design for the  robot and went through quite a few ideas before settling on one. It's not pictured here because it plays a very important part in the story I am working on.

These were done in my sketchbook using blue Col-Erase pencil, black pens and gray Prismacolor markers.
