Patreon Move!

Just in case you didn't know I have created a Patreon page. After over 7 years of posts here and on my main website gene gonzales.com, I thought Patreon would be a good fit. I have been on Patreon for almost a year and it's been a good experience. Over there I post art and process videos for my patrons. And from time to time I post for the general public. And we are building a nice little community. Come over and check it out. :)

PERILS ON PLANET X for sale at IndyPlanet!

Shameless plug this morning but it's also a great example of why I am on Patreon now. Creating Perils on Planet X took over a dozen years. And the simple reason is both of us, writer Chris Mills and I have other responsibilities in order to pay the bills. But we never let POPX die. And now it is done and ready to read! In Chris' words:

All three issues of PERILS ON PLANET X by Yours Truly and Gene Gonzales, with colors by Ian Sokoliwski, are available to purchase NOW!
They are only available by mail order from IndyPlanet. This is is the best way to support us and the book, as the profits go directly to Gene and myself. Each issue is 32 full-color pages, printed on high-quality, heavy paper stock. (You can also purchase digital downloads, if you prefer.)
Sales of these issues will help Gene and I determine whether there's enough demand for Volume 2: "Agent of Empyr," so if you'd like to see further PERILS ON PLANET X adventures, be sure to order your copies soon.
Please share!

You can order either print or digital downloads. Or both if you so desire.

I hope you will join us on Planet X!

Thanks!

PERILS ON PLANET X - IN PRINT (very, very soon)

PERILS ON PLANET X © CHRISTOPHER MILLS AND GENE GONZALES

Anyone who has followed me on this blog knows about PERILS ON PLANET X. If you don't, POPX is a series by writer Christopher Mills and myself. It is a swashbuckling sci-fi adventure done in the grand tradition of Flash Gordon and John Carter. It will be available through print on demand very very soon. And to celebrate, I have created a desktop wallpaper of the first issues wraparound cover. You can download it for free at my Patreon page: www.Patreon.com/GeneGonzales

There are more details on that page as well as the download. I hope you enjoy the wallpaper and I hope you will give our series a shot.

Thanks!

Gene Gonzales is Creating Art and Comics on Patreon!

On January 30th I launched a Patreon page. If you are not familiar with Patreon, it is a subscription based way for people to support the endeavors of other people. Basically it is a way to become a "Patron of the Arts". And my art in particular. :)

https://www.patreon.com/genegonzales

I created the video seen above to explain why I am now on Patreon and what I hope to accomplish. If you have enjoyed what I do on this blog and you enjoy my art,  I ask that you check out what I am doing on Patreon. And if you are interested in supporting me there, you will see a number of reward tiers from which to choose. From basic info to art commissions, I tried to make them appealing.

If you are not interested in supporting me on Patreon, no worries. Really. My work will still be showcased here about as frequently as I have been doing lately. And every so often I might give you a peek at what the Patrons are seeing on Patreon as a way to try to entice you again. :)

The link is above, if you have a moment take a look. And if you have any questions about it just shoot me an email or ask in the comments below.

Thank you for all your kind words and support through the years!

Gene

Wildfire - Legion of Super-Heroes

Wildfire © DC Comics

Another Legion commission! I can't get enough of them! Today is Wildfire! I thought Wildfire was one of the coolest looking characters when I first saw him in Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes 205. He didn't do much but that visor was cool. It wasn't until I got the elusive issue 201 and the even more elusive first appearance in issue 195 (you have no idea how difficult it was to find that comic back then) that I got to see him in action. Good times!

And if you are interested, I also recorded the inking process and uploaded it to my YouTube channel. Click on over for the better resolution.

Devlin O'Ryan - Legion of Super-Heroes

This just might turn into a Legion art blog. Not that I mind. :)

Today we have Mr. Devlin O'Ryan. Devlin was introduced during the "Five Years Later" era and he was able to reflect any physical or energy attack. Handy power!

Last Batch of Legionnaires

Dawnstar

Element Lad

Karate Kid

This is the last of this batch of Legionnaires. I'm gonna miss them. All the pieces have been a blast to do. Exploring costumes that were never used or only seen in a very limited fashion. Which just reminded me of some costumes that Legion artist Jim Sherman did in one of the Legion treasury books. Some of those never saw action outside of that book. Maybe that will be a future batch?

Just for fun I recorded the inking stage of the Timber Wolf commission I am creating. This was recorded with my iPhone 6s Plus and titles done in iMovie. Don't blink, it's pretty fast. :)

Conventionless Convention Commissions - Fall 2015

All character © their individual owners

CONVENTIONLESS CONVENTION COMMISSION (CCC)! It's just like a regular con sketch that I would do for you at a convention, except no crowds, no convention hall food, no hotel bill, and no travel. And the price is the same as a show sketch. You only have to pay extra for shipping. Still cheaper than going to a show. If you have been waiting to get a black and white, inked single character sketch from me, now is the time to get it. This time around I am offering some other options as well. If not for yourself, maybe you want a gift for that special someone? The holidays are just around the corner!

Here are the CCC options...

Commissions:

  •  9" x 12" Inked head shot: $50.00

  •  11" x 17" Inked single character: $75.00

  •  11" x 17" Inked with some color single character: $125.00

I will not be doing multiple characters on a single board. Shipping is $15.00. No matter how many sketches you get! Buy 1: Shipping is $15.00! Buy 20, shipping is $15.00! This shipping cost is for the US only, sorry. If you are outside the US, please contact me for shipping costs.

I have not set a specific amount of requests that I will take. I will just see what the requests are and see what I can handle. I am planning to begin them on November 16th and complete them by Dec. 16th. Any background elements will be at my discretion. Finished art will be mailed each Thursday or Friday.

Payment is PayPal only. (No e-checks, please).

If you are interested, send me an email to gene_gonzales(at)mac(dot)com. Please use "Conventionless Convention Commission" in the subject line and let me know what you would like. That address and subject line are very important. It helps me sort the requests from other emails. That email address is also my PayPal account, but check with me before sending money, please. I do reserve the right to turn down requests that I don't feel comfortable drawing. If you have any questions, please email me.

Please tell your friends, family, and local politicians. Tweet it on Twitter, Tumble it on Tumblr, Pin it on Pinterest, Face it on Facebook...Okay, that one didn't sound right, but you get the idea. Please get the word out any way you can. Thanks! :)
