MegaCon 2015 Advance Sketch List & Conventionless Convention Sketches!

MegaCon in Orlando, Florida is coming up fast. The dates are April 10-12. I will be sharing a table with the one and only Joe Pekar. We will be in artist alley at table BLACK 19.

MegaCon is my first convention of 2015 and it is time to open up the advance sketch list. I will actually work on this list leading up to the convention. Especially the more complicated pieces. This time I will be combining a CONVENTIONLESS CONVENTION SKETCH (CCS) list for those that are not able to attend the convention.

This is a lot to read so email me if you have any question. Email address is gene_gonzales@mac.com or gene@genegonzales.com

Conventionless Convention Sketch Deal

$50.00 for a single character, inked on 11" x 17" bristol board. I will not be doing multiple characters on a single board. Shipping is $15.00. No matter how many sketches you get! Buy 1: Shipping is $15.00! Buy 20, shipping is $15.00! This shipping cost is for the US only, sorry. If you are outside the US, please contact me for shipping costs.

I have not set a specific amount of requests that I will take. I will just see what the requests are and see what I can handle. I will start as the requests come in and plan to be done by April 9th. Any background elements will be at my discretion. Finished art will be mailed each Thursday. Payment is PayPal only. (No e-checks, please).

Contact me at gene_gonzales@mac.com and please use "Conventionless Convention Sketch" in the subject line and let me know what you would like. That address and subject line are very important. It helps me sort the requests from other emails. That email address is also my PayPal account, but check with me before sending money, please. I do reserve the right to turn down requests that I don't feel comfortable drawing. If you have any questions, please email me.

Please tell your friends, family, and local politicians. Tweet it on Twitter, Tumble it on Tumblr, Pin it on Pinterest, Face it on Facebook...Okay, that one didn't sound right, but you get the idea. Please get the word out any way you can. Thanks! :)

MegaCon Convention Options and Prices:

Inked sketches: single figure, on 11" x 17" Bristol Board: $50.00

Acrylic/Watercolor: single figure on 11" x 17" (approximate size): 175.00
(I will be doing these pieces in advance. I don't plan to doing any at the show.)

Sketch Covers:

One character ink: $75
One character color: $100
Two character color: $175

Email me if you have a different request.

Payment: There will be three options for payment:

PayPal: You may pay in advance for your request using PayPal. Please contact me first with your request before you send money.

Credit Card at the Con: I will be accepting major credit cards at the convention. I can use PayPal or Square to accept credit cards. Fast and secure.

Cash: You can pay for the art when you pick it up.

If you were to ask what I prefer, Paypal would be my first preference for payment. It makes it easier to keep track of everything and it helps prioritize the work.

If you are attending MegaCon please pick up your artwork as soon as you can when you arrive at the convention. Or come by to pay for your spot on the list, whichever applies.

I may ask for reference if I don't know the character or if I can't find it on the web at the show.
You can email me links to references before the show.

An advantage to getting on the list early gives me some time to think about your request(s), bounce ideas around in my head, maybe doodle ideas in my sketchbook, and possibly show up at the con with your finished piece. There is a finite amount of requests I can take. I do not know what that number is because I don't know the requests. So sign up early and often. :)

I am really looking forward to this show. There are so many of you that I only get to see at MegaCon so it really is like hanging out with friends.

If you have any questions about the sketch list, please ask. And even if you are not getting something but will be at the show, please drop by and say "hi".

Other Convention Stuff

I will have other original art at the show, some you have seen here on this blog. I will also be bringing prints and sketchbooks to the show.

This was a lot of information to cover. If anything is confusing to you, let me know and I will do my best to clarify. And please excuse any typos. :)

Below are some samples of last year's convention pieces and some CCS'.

Thanks!

Green Arrow - Mischief Warm-Up Sketch

Green Arrow © DC Comics

A warm up sketch I did in the Mischief art application. Anyone who knows me from when I was in grade school knows was an impact Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams run on Green Lantern/Green Arrow had on me. I didn't discover it until it was cancelled, but before the relaunch happened with O'Neil and Grell. The first issue I read was where Ollie finds out his ward, Roy, is a junkie. I was blown away. Just blown away. I reread that book so many times. I still have some copies of the run, along with the reissue comics, the two paperback versions, the hardcover omnibus thing and then the digital versions. Great run.

Sue Storm - Warm Up Sketch

Sue Storm © Marvel Entertainment

A warm up sketch of Sue Storm done this morning. Most of my warm ups are digital but today I felt like getting my hands dirty. I based it loosely on a photo of Ann-Margret from the 1960s. Check my Art for Sale page if you interested in purchasing it.
