But it seems too many times when someone sits down to write a movie featuring a super-hero, they try to write a super-hero movie and it doesn't work. For me, The Dark Knight is a great example of a movie that could have been a detective/cop story without cape and cowl.

Thanks Erik! And thanks for the movie input too!Gene Gonzaleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11934517610414260010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989720104825417666.post-78478700788795954732009-02-07T04:09:00.000-05:002009-02-07T04:09:00.000-05:00Very nice Wonder Woman Gene. Definitely worth going to see in the theatre, IMO.Erik Sveinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06067801165561008526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989720104825417666.post-39204306995616448082009-02-06T23:16:00.000-05:002009-02-06T23:16:00.000-05:00Saw Taken and as an action movie it is superb! Ge...Saw Taken and as an action movie it is superb! Gene, as the father of a teenaged daughter, you will really relate to Liam's character. Don't want to spoil the movie for anyone, but if you like the obsessed vigilante revenger type of character, you will love this flick. Someone said that this movie is a better Punisher flick than any of the "official" ones, and I won't disagree.Royce Throwerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03156766579998174592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989720104825417666.post-68778868772001905742009-02-06T18:41:00.000-05:002009-02-06T18:41:00.000-05:00Thanks Gary. I think I'm one of those rare artist that really, really enjoys doing sketches at a show. That same joy carries over to the work I do at home. I wouldn't do it if I didn't enjoy it, believe me. For example, I am doing Caniff's Dragon Lady for one of the requests. I have penciled and inked her twice so far, and for some reason I am just not pleased. The third time seems to be the charm. Sure its a bit frustrating but I enjoy that too.

Chime in on TAKEN. Deena and I are both interested in seeing it.Gene Gonzaleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11934517610414260010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989720104825417666.post-7533148569755285782009-02-06T16:49:00.000-05:002009-02-06T16:49:00.000-05:00Happy Birthday Brian! It seems Gene, that even though certain characters get requested a lot, each of your new products seems full of freshness and liveliness! Where do you get that consistently high volume of creative energy? It really looks like you have fun with these drawings and that your enjoyment leaks onto the page along with your graphite and india ink.

Going to see Taken tonight. Heard good and bad things but I am looking forward to it!!Royce Throwerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03156766579998174592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4989720104825417666.post-69883215876776573002009-02-06T09:58:00.000-05:002009-02-06T09:58:00.000-05:00Gene,The WW is stunning of course. However, I am always impressed by your ability to take what some would consider a basic background (in this case a rectangle with stars)and integrate it with the main figure. Aesthetically, this practice adds so much more to the overall presentation of the piece. Guess it shows that you don't have to have a super detailed background with lots of elements to have a positive impact on the piece!

GaryGary M.
